starting fires with spectacles is a good trick, of course you need a nice sunny day for it! this is something I learned over 50 years ago whilst still a schoolboy, managed to set fire to the grass on our sports field during our annual sports day.
on the subject of spectacles, any prepper who wears glasses should not throw out their old ones when they get new pairs, you never know when you might need them.

Totally agree. Any spectacles that you can see better with are better than none at all. I only use glasses for reading & driving, but I carry both with me all the time unless I am trekking, then I just carry reading glasses.
