It’s cheating but for work, when cooking sausages for groups ( which are sometime up to 50 strong!) I use Sainsbury’s (other supermarkets selling pretty much the same product) frozen pork sausages, pre cooked the night before and then charred off over the fire. They cost about £2 for twenty and are surprisingly nice wrapped in a slice of cheap white bread with a splash of sauce. The kids love them and there is no risk of undercooked food as you are effectively adding character (through the medium of carbon) rather than cooking from fresh. It’s also a lot easier and quicker!

My father use to do the same when we had a family outing. Could end up with 10 people or more on them outings so as you said it works a treat and no chance of upset’s and fast cooking 👍
