An escape of an hour or so into the adjoining woodland. Warm and overcast and except for bird song and the occasional croaking calls of the Moorhens on the lake, almost silent.
The wander takes me along one side of the lake, across the footbridge to the other side. Be warned..mostly Wild Flowers..
Yellow Flag or Wild Iris growing at the lake margins.
Something died here amongst the Saxifrage, probably fell to one of the Sparrow Hawks that hunt these woods.
Beautiful Perriwinkle like a blue Gem next to the white of the Ramsons
Crossing the footbridge as the Mallard Drake keeps a wary eye on me.
And the Moorhen skulks about the Reed Bed.
Somewhere to hole up and make a brew if the weather turns against me.
Marsh Marigolds in the shallows at the side of the lake
Home through the wood, and the unfolding Ferns look like abandoned Violins set upright in the soft woodland floor.
