Snugpack Tactical 4 Sleeping Bag.

Bit of an update on the "Snugpack Tactical 4"

In the end after pondering and curiosity getting the better of me.....I tried to stow my daytime clothes inside the bag with me...... it became apparent that with the addition of the clothes......the bag became a bit less roomy.....just by adding those few items.
So I decided to order the Winter expansion panel that is available for the bag and also fits other Snugpack sleeping bags.

The addition of the panel has transformed the bag totally and is an easy job to fit.
Now confident I can stow my gear and remain comfortable with ample room inside.

The panel is a perfect fit well made and has excellent zips......happy with the purchase.

I bet you have packed it in your kit for a last minute stealthy trip North ! :D ;)

Have been pondering over another sleeping bag for some time.
Already have a nice lightweight Summer bag and also an extreme Winter Down bag.
Needed another Winter bag that I can throw in the pack/shelter and not worry too much about....something easy to wash and maintain and not needing specialist cleaning.... with a synthetic filling rather than down.
Been throwing ideas and choices in the air.....finally choosing the "Snugpack Tactical 4"
It has a reasonable rating 0f -12 to -17 which is ample to cope with the Winters we see mostly here in the U.K.
The bag has a kind of felt lining which I think is going to be very warm and snug against the skin....I do not wear clothes in a sleeping bag.
The dimensions of the bag are quite generous so even being a Mummy style of bag it should not feel too restricted and offer a bit of wiggle room.
Enough room to keep base layers shirt/trousers inside overnight for day use.
The hood of the bag has a zippered pocket that will take a small pillow or rolled up fleece......a handy little extra to the comfort values.
Reinforced footwell.

Should be here in a couple of days........jobs a good'un.

As soon as my wrist has healed I will be out to try it......getting there now :D

Been reading this again......and am thinking along exactly the same lines. How have you found this bag if you've used it? I am 6' 4" and 100kgs....do you think I'd fit?
I have the Dutch M90 which is fantastic in all sorts of ways, but it is massive : even in a compression bag, and therefore maybe not the best if backpacking (it fills over 1/2 of my large Alice pack............…....) What is the "expansion panel"?
Admittedly, I like wiggle room, but am happy to compromise.......a bit.......if the rest works!

Hi Lol.

The measurements of the bag are as follows.

Length: 220cm

Chest width: 80cm

Footwell: 42cm

Pack Size: 25cm x 24cm

So you should fit :D

I am 15.5 stone = 98 kilos.......so not too far off of you.
The bag is a mummy design.... so a snugger fit than some other types like rectangle.
The Expansion panel is an add on you can buy that zips into the existing bag zips.....this offers a lot more wiggle room.
Also offers the opportunity to store your daytime clothes inside the bag with you overnight..... comfortably.....+ your water bottle so you have unfrozen water for a brew in the mornings.
(Need to make sure you order the correct expanding panel to suit the bag...i.e...Winter....Summer....Spring and model Tactical 4 ) £30 ish.

Not tested in anger yet but I am feeling confident.....the suede/fleece lining is very warm and soft....pity they did not add it to the expansion panel as well.

You could always ring the supplier and ask if you could return it if its not for you.....leave all labels etc attached of course ;)

Thank you...I'm liking the sound of this...….that's pulling down surprisingly small too
Trouble is, is the loft now going to fill with bags as the garage has with tents????

Any imminent planned use ?

Only one person needs to get cold before I make a decision!!  .............(plus silk liner and expansion panel?)

Trip to Dartmoor planned.....will be using the bag on that trip for the first time in anger.
You will not need a silk liner.....suede/fleece lined.
Expansion panel will depend on your feel for the bag......may not be necessary. :)

I meant the cheaper polycotton bag...I use them (if they can be fixed in the bag, and this can) not for added warmth, but to protect the bag?.
Re the panel, I'm fairly broad?
Want to see loads of piccies up the moor...……………!!

As the bag has the fleece lining already in place....I reckon adding another polycotton bag may make things a bit snaggy.
If you are using night sleep kit..... I.E....... CLEAN base layers and clean socks in the bag you should not need the protection of another bag mate

Good point, although sometimes I do sleep in just knicks....but I think I may take your advice...……...

Ordered as instructed...….the bag that is, not the knicks...got them
Didn't order a liner or expansion panel....yet o_O ….for the sleeping bag, no! NOT the knicks!!!

OutdoorGB.........….best price I could find. Delivery quoted as "9-19 days" Seems online they had very little stock, but sill seems a little long in delivery, not that it matters much?, except "excited big kid " syndrome!!
