Good to be able to get close enough to touch a wild animal, but not a good idea to actually touch them. You can never be sure of their reaction. This wallaby would have been safe enough for sure, but big buck roos, Euros & wild boar are best not touched. I am sure you can think of a few animals that could turn on you in fright. I usually take a few steps back & say "good day". I did that with a wild boar one time, he did in fact run off very fast, but in reflection that was a little foolish & it could have gone wrong. I was only 20 years of age then, I know better now.
