Stinging nettles can also be boiled or steamed as a green veg to go with other dishes. To me it tastes like Spinach. This plant grows widely in the UK & in Australia.
 
Extremely rich in vitamins and iron, if you strip the leaves off to cook them the fibrous stems make good cordage.
If I don't need cordage I usually just pick the leaves from the tip.
