My newest toy arrived yesterday, a brand spanking new Vigo apple press. This will allow me to make use of all the bruised or windfall apples that would otherwise be wasted. The juice can either be fermented or pasteurised.
Since I was going to go into producing mead next year this will fit in nicely as a lot of the home brew equipment would be duel purpose.
The apple trees were planted 9 years ago so they're only just beginning to produce reasonable crops. I've just picked the Bardsey Island and Court Pen du Plait apples for single crop ciders as they're both historic varieties. The others are a mixture of desert, cooking and cider apples but can be blended because I lack the equipment to do 30 odd different batches.
