we had a few grass snakes at the bottom of the garden ... they had young snakes with them had to move them when i emptied the swimming pool as didn't want to drown them

we call them grass snakes here but yes the technical name is slow worm

The wonder that is Google! Grass snakes are snakes and slow worms are legless lizards. Different species.

We get a lot of slow worms here, also frogs, newts and sand lizards. They used to be everywhere when I was a kid, these days they're rare enough to need protection for them and their habitat.

Thats a beauty. Was gonna say it looks like a lizard to me - then I read comments in the thread. I didnt realise they had these gorgeous things in Uk. I recall you live in the south Divebuddy. Its in your glass house for warmth...

Over here we have one very similar, different colour called a 'legaless', geddit?
