As you know my local walk is around some old fishery ponds and the countryside which surrounds it. In all its a circular route of around 4 miles which is ideal for a walk out.
The weather was dull but no rain which is a bonus. As always a few pictures of my walk.

Hi Forager

Thanks for the interesting pics. For those of us too dumb to know better, what exactly is an old ‘fishery pond’. Does it still have fish? Can you access it/them?

Something like a fish farm?

Sorry, I have never heard of anything like that around these parts…

Cheers

Alan

Hi Alan quite a few years back the old fishery ponds used to be full of fresh water fish which is fed by the River Gaunless. Every year though the old fishery ponds always floods as the river Gaunless is fed by streams up in weardale. They have always been known as the old fishery ponds but now the place is called the Gaunless Flatts which attract alot of visiting wild fowl birds.
