After I changed a few weeks ago my simcard I understood that my smartphone is the problem.
It is old and weak and has to be changed.

My next one should be waterproof.

Do you use a waterproof Smartphone and can you recommend it?

Sounds like my mum......

If only there was a solution......

For me an additional waterproof bag isn't a good option, because I am nearly every day outdoors and have to use the phone in the rain too.

I don't ask only for bushcraft use, I need it for professional use where I most times have no rucksack and often no rain coat with me.

And I will use it in warm conditions in suddenly starting heavy rain, where I get totally whet like under the shower.

It must be waterproof but I want to stop working with the additional bag.

That I want to use only in the canoe, at the beach and so on.

My samsung is definitely shower proof and I've had it out in some pretty horrendous weather

There seem to be minimum 2 different waterproof Samsung models.

One has glass also on the back. I have seen a cracked one today. It is waterproof but not shock proof, and it's impossible to change the batterie yourself.

The other is relatively shock proof too and it's possible to reinforce the screen with an additional plexiglas, so far I understood it right. Here the owner can change the battery himself.
Interesting perhaps if one wants to take an additional baterie with him. And surely if it's necessary to replace it easily.

The battery of the other one can only change a specialist.

mine is a galaxy s7 and pretty bomb froof erbs

And does it work well electronically, or does it have functional problems?

What's about frost and heat?

I have had almost all the Galaxy S range and they have been great never had a days problem with any of them. they take superb pictures and videos links to my TV, CCTV, Car stereo and loads of other items without fuss. Highly recommend the galaxy S range of phones.

Aha, Aha, Aha!

Thank you for the informations!

My brother managed to break the screen of a watertight Samsung, but he thought it would be so bombproof like the old ones with the far smaller screen. So he really didn't pay attention. Technical he is convinced too.

The guy from my phone shop next door recommended them too, and will try to get a good one next days. I forgot which name, but a new shockproof one.

Any other suggestions?

For added protection of a waterproof phone that is not shockproof, you could maybe try one of these......or similar?

Had one on my old Note 4 and it saved the phone from damage on many occasions..........recommended.

I've mentioned in the past that I only take phones with removable batteries to camp leaving my 'posh' phone in the car, couple of charged batteries stashed away and off you trot.

Sadly there are not many new phones about these days that let you sway batteries but I came across this one which looks good, 4g and metal body

Not a bad price either.

I'll stick with a zip lock bag with my phone, I must be incredibly lucky in that I've never damaged a phone by dropping it or water ingress so my 20p zip lock stays. :)

That has been my preference too, I've had to compromise and now I carry one of these with me, fits in a wallet.

Vida IT 2500mAh vCard Slim Thin Credit Card Power Bank Portable USB External Battery Charger with Built-In Micro USB Attached Cable Lead For Android Mobile Phone Small Size Mini Lightweight Compact: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

I usually have at least one other power bank when out and about but I carry this everywhere with me as I did a spare battery in the past.

My 'camping' phone is an S3 or Galaxy note and can carry batteries, but a power bank is very very handy for a charge or to keep a small tablet going when your stuck in your tent and want to watch a film et al.

One of these will keep my 'camping' Amazon Fire fire going pretty much all nigh and at the price you can easily afford to buy several.

I get abroad more than getting out camping these days...need to rectify that...when I get back from Cyprus LOL

I've a number of power banks, varying in size, both physical and in the amount of wigglies. Another little 'passion' of mine.
Also have a couple of solar chargers, not that they're much use at the moment.
