After many years wanting a little bit of green and pleasant to call our own, we completed purchase of our bit of woodland last week.
To say we are chuffed would be an understatement...
4.3 Acres of native broadleaf, all relatively new being about 15 years since it was planted, there is a stream and next week a piped water supply will go in.
There is work to do, particularly strimming/brush cutting weeds and brambles, replanting a few trees that have died and a bit of replacement fencing.
About a 10 minute drive from home and down a half mile access lane, can't be seen from the road, so nice and private, overlooking AONB.....
Yesterday armed with a pruning saw and a machete (!) we cleared a path to a clearing that we intend to put a shed on and where the water supply will be piped to...there will also be a fire pit.....
Just need to do the permitted development process for the shed......
Feeling truly blessed and looking forward to an overnighter once the shed is up......

congratulations to you's both....paradise wish you's all the best :thumbsup:

Hi Paul.

You must be over the moon mate....very pleased for you....and good luck to you
You must be well excited about getting it cleared and getting it just how you want it.
Hope the planning for the shed goes well.
A bonus to...... having your own water source there.

As Joe says.....please put up some pictures and share your progress with us:thumbsup:
Only 10 minutes from home with lane access.......just could not be better;)

@paulnb57

Not seen you about for a while mate?

How are you progressing with the wood..... it must be looking very nice now.

Did you manage to get the permitted development for the shed?

Look forward to an update and a few pictures buddy.

Well, its been a funny old time since finallyy completed on the woodland....
We applied for Permitted Development, to pit a 3x3meter shed on the woodland and after many email, drawings location plans etc were turned down, which was very frustrating to say the least, especially as at the chosen location could only be seen from the air!
We created a small access track for the owner of the adjoining woodland as required and had a local comtractor installed a lockable gate...
Then we bought a new puppy, A Miniature English Bull Terrier, Ive wanted a Bully for mamy years and realised my, very expensive, dream! As any dog owner knows puppies take all your time, so the woodland took a back seat......our dreams were shattered when the pup was found to have severe mental illness, which meant she was exteremely agressive and with a heavy heart had to heed vet advice and have her put to sleep age 5 months, We were devastated.....
We had our summer hols in a shepherd hut and on return decided to see if we could rehome a Bully.....several home checks from several rescue organisations saw us reply to a post asking for a Foster home for an 8month old girly, who was being kept crated all day, due to owners shift work hours changing, so we took her on....the day to pick her up from just south of Birmingham ws the first time the rescue charity had seen her, we met, did the exchange and made our way home, next day it became obvious she was completely deaf, the previous owners had lied to the rescue charity.
She had been crated so much that she could only walk on grass, her pads were so soft, but we persevered with her building up her stamina daily, when out she would stop and stare at everything, birds, dogs, blowing leaves, it was all so new to her......
We started teaching her sign language for sit, stay come, bed......she was a fast learner, but our Harry the Stafford hated her and they fought a lot, which meant she had to go......she is now in Aldershot in a forever home.....it was sad to see her go, but we can console ourselves with the fact that she left in a much better state than she arrived. She could walk on any surface with her head up, not having to look where her feet were, she could trot along like a "normal" dog (on a long lead ) and not have to stop and stare, she was confident in town and country and even swam in the sea...
So, we are still looking for another dog, third time lucky? We will have to wait and see!.....
The Woodland through all this, has sat idle, doing what woodland does.......which in a way has been a good thing, as it has stopped us rushing and making mistakes, plans for the Autumn are to create a circular ride (pathway) through the woods and to create a small clearing for leisure use, where our shelter will be, current thinking is something like a horsebox or similar as anything on wheels does not require permission, a caravan would do, its not really what we want, a horsebox coverted inside to be like a shephers hut would be more in keeping....
So, we have had our ups and downs, but the woods are still there patiently waiting and I'm here with Sciatica and painkillers!
Might change my name to "Lucky"

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the dogs :(... when your ready pm me and ill pass you over some details ok

Hi, Paul.

Sounds like you have had a miserable time and bad luck with the dogs....sorry to hear that.....and hope you find the one for you soon.

What a miserable bunch refusing the permitted use for the shed.
More than one way to skin a cat mate....and I'm sure you will find a way.
You could maybe buy an old trailer bed and build your own.....you can get some BIG trailers :sneaky::whistle:;)

I sympathise with the Sciatica hope you are managing it.

Nice to see you about again:thumbsup:

Home from home Paul.

Oh my! Ive just had a moment! Its pretty much whats in my minds eye, even down to using the loading ramp as a "deck".......good find Willie!

You could probebly double the size of your deck by adding another folding door to the existing Paul?
