I wouldn't be in a position to come and help but when filling the base of the hole/deep ruts to stop the rocks being pushed into the ground then bagging them in some way would spread the ground pressure, even chicken wire formed into a rough box/sausage could give a more solid foundation for other rocks to be put onto (and not be as visible!)

Also.....using smaller stones will help rather than throwing bigger ones in the ruts.
Smaller stones will knit and bed together easier and form a stronger bond.
The bigger ones will move around a lot more when driven over.
 
No worries buddy. Looking forward to a weekend away. I'm away weekend of 14th October
but around most of the other weekends.
