I managed to bag a Tilley on eBay today for 33 quid plus 7.50 post. Looks a goodn, but will find out for sure when it arrives.

Just been looking online for parafin suppliers and have come to the conclusion that I can use heating oil in the tilley lamp. Can anyone confirm that I'm right or wrong?

Can't see any reason why not, give it a go worst that can happen is it don't work or turns the mantle or glass or both black.

My Tilley lamp arrived late this afternoon (Friday). Got it going, eventually, using paraffin. What a super piece of kit it is too. I will post some pics soon.
