First pike

After much walking and casting I managed to catch this small pike today. First one I've caught. Still managed to loose 4 lures during the morning.

I was using a small spoon. Hoping it would work for the perch and pike.

Nice fish. I love catching pike, they're awesome predators. Spinner baits are another good lure for them.

Couldn’t agree more Spent a lot of time fishing for pike took them on dead bait and lure , prefer the spinning tho as they hit hard and when they jump and tail walk your heart starts racing… might give them another go at some point but I can’t see past the carp fishing right now lol

I've never seen a live Pike. Do we have them here in Wales ? There's none in the Tawe that's for sure.

That explains it Bob, not many lakes or ponds close by. Plenty of fast flowing Rivers and
streams though and the only fish in them are Salmon, Trout and Sewin. Oh and Eels.

Right CB... they like hiding along the edges of weed-lines and under lily pads. I was fishing over a weedbed and had a few of them following my spinner bait right up to the boat. There's a river here called the Passaic. There's a section of it that meanders through a nature preserve... very slow moving. I heard that stretch is infested with northern pike.

Can you eat them Bob ? or are they released after capture like carp and the like. Gareth Edwards, a very famous rugby
player over here once had the British record for a pike, 62 lbs, but he must have put it back because the current record
holder caught it again a few years later when it was a few lbs more.
