I've noticed a few posts about people with terrible coughs recently, so I thought I would share this:
30g thyme leaf ( dried will do fresh is better )
800 ml water
350g raw honey ( local if you can)
2 tbsp brandy (preserver)
Put the water and thyme in a pan, bring to a simmer, and simmer with a lid ajar until the liquid is halved ( Approx ¾ hour )
Strain and keep liquid, discard plant matter.
Let resulting liquid cool to blood temperature, add honey and brandy, whisk well till combined and smooth. Pour into a glass bottle, label it up and chuck it in the fridge. Will last at least 6 months.
Can't overdose on this stuff, all natural no drugs or nasties.
I'd say 1 tsp when needed especially during coughing fits.
