Well after 12 good years its time to say good by to my little girl. No more walks in the woods, no more having a wet smelly dog crawling into my sleeping bag.
 
Sorry to hear that she's gone Joe, they're definitely a part of the family. I'm dreading losing my Holly as she's also getting a bit grey around the edges.
It's the price we pay for years of companionship and unconditional love.
 
I feel sad for your loss Joe although I think that its sometimes better that we outlive our pet companions rather than have them wake up one day to find we are no longer with them.

Yes, that is sad!

We lost a few years ago our dog too.
That is really something different than the dead of other animals.
